The Greene County cross country teams raced twice last week, with the boys taking fifth on Tuesday in Ogden and seventh in Perry on Thursday.
Ava Minnehan was the top Ram runner for the girls, placing 36th on Tuesday and 37th on Thursday. Becca Anderson took 42nd and 64th, Evelyn Snyder was 63rd and 103rd. There aren’t enough runners on the girls team to receive a team score or place.
In the boys races, Noah Hinote ran to seventh place on Tuesday, with Brady Carstensen taking ninth, earning a top ten medal. On Thursday, Hinote led the Rams with a 19th place finish, being the only Greene County runner to crack the top 20.
After Thursday’s meet, coach Jeff Lamoureux said he was proud of the team: “It’s a difficult course but conditions were pretty good with a slight breeze. I think having just run at Ogden on Tuesday hurt us a bit. Some of our runners hadn’t fully recovered but, great effort.”
The runners were set to compete on Tuesday at Lake City Country Club and on Thursday at Saydel High School. Monday, Oct. 9, Greene County will host the Heart of Iowa conference meet.
